ATF to Soon Release Updated ATF 5320.23

On January 1, 2026, the ATF released the new revisions of the ATF Form 1 and ATF Form 4 due to the change of the cost of the tax stamp.  The $200 fee for the making of and transferring of most NFA firearms went to $0.  Another revision is coming at a TBD date according to the ATF.  You can view the soon to updated ATF 5320.23 information page here.

Upon reviewing the new ATF 5320.23 you can notice a few big changes.  Besides the format change, you can also notice the removal of the passport style photo box that was also removed from the ATF Form 4 and ATF Form 1.  It is worth noting that passport photo requirement wasn't removed.  The second biggest change is the removal of the CLEO section of the ATF 5320.23.  It is unclear if the ATF 5320.23 requirement to send a copy to the CLEO will also be removed.

The official release date per the ATF is TBD.
