What Gets Mailed to the ATF / CLEO for eForm 1 Applications?

When you are applying for a tax stamp using the ATF eForm 1 application you might ask yourself, what exactly is required to be sent to the ATF / CLEO.  We will explain below which items need to be mailed to the ATF / CLEO based on your application type.

  • Applying as an Individual:
    • Two Fingerprint Cards are required to be sent to the ATF within 10 business days of applying using the eForm system.  The ATF will provide a mailing address for your fingerprint cards to the email address that you provided. If you have uploaded an .EFT File, nothing is mailed to the ATF.
    • The CLEO copy of your ATF Form 1 that is emailed to you by the ATF will need to be mailed or delivered to the CLEO named within your ATF eForm 1 application.
  • Applying with a Gun Trust or as a Legal Entity:
    • Two Fingerprint Cards are required to be sent to the ATF within 10 business days of applying using the eForm system for each responsible person named within the gun trust or legal entity.  The ATF will provide a mailing address for your fingerprint cards to the email address that you provided.  If you have uploaded .EFT Files for all of your responsible persons, nothing is mailed to the ATF.
    • The CLEO copy of your ATF Form 1 that is emailed to you by the ATF will need to be mailed or delivered to the CLEO named within your ATF eForm 1 application.  The CLEO copy of your ATF 5320.23 paperwork for each responsible person named within the gun trust or legal entity will also be mailed or delivered to the CLEO named within your ATF eForm 1 application.  Both the ATF Form 1 and the ATF 5320.23 CLEO copies can be mailed or delivered to the CLEO named within your application in one package.
